Studio Rules

Dance joyfully, follow the rules gracefully. Our studio rules make the dance floor a place of shared discipline and collective grace.

  • Cover ups must be worn over dance clothes when outside the studio. This is for the safety of all students.
  • DO NOT wear your dance shoes outside of the studio. This is harmful to the dance floor and will also help extend the life of your shoes.
  • No smoking or alcohol allowed on the premises at any time.
  • Water is the only beverage allowed inside the studio and waiting room. If you do bring food or other beverages, you are required to eat and leave outside. Please do not throw any food or beverages other than water away inside the school. There is a garbage can outside for these items, but if possible, taking your food trash would be appreciated.
  • Please treat the studio with respect.
  • Always check the calendar and corkboard in the main waiting room for new information.
  • **A RESTROOM IS LOCATED IN THE MAIN WAITING ROOM. ANOTHER RESTROOM IS LOCATED INSIDE STUDIO C AND IS ONLY ACCESSIBLE BETWEEN CLASSES.
  • If you choose not to stay during your child’s class, please drop off and pick up your children promptly. We cannot be responsible for children not in class or after classes have concluded.
  • Babies (1st and 2nd year classes) will not be released into the Waiting Room area at the end of class. They are released one on one to a designated guardian. Please make sure that you are on time so the teachers can continue with their duties.
  • In order to create an environment of integrity and honesty, gossiping about students, parents, staff or other studios will not be tolerated.
  • Students and Parents are expected to treat ALL teachers, staff, and peers with respect at all times. Disrespect cannot and will not be tolerated.

Attendance

  • Attendance throughout the year is very important to your dance education. Once revue numbers begin, fellow students and teachers rely on your attendance. As we approach the revue date, your attendance becomes a necessity. Please try to plan vacations after the set revue date. If you miss a class, it is your responsibility to learn what was taught either from another classmate or by videoing the choreography to take home and practice.
  • **Once revue numbers have begun in January, you can miss no more than 6 classes. If this occurs, you will not be able to participate in that recital dance. It is not fair to the teacher and other students.
  • If you have more than 8 absences throughout the year, beginning the first lesson of September through the last lesson before the revue, you will forfeit credit for that year of dance.

Dress Code

  • All classes require proper dance clothing to be worn.  We do not require a specific uniform, but leotards, tights, bikers, dance tops, fitted tanks, boy shorts or dance pants will be accepted. Leotards must be worn with tights or dance shorts. No bare legs with leotards! T-shirts and sweats are only for Warm-ups and Hip-Hop.
  • The PROPER shoes must be worn to each class. If your child has a problem and cannot wear the proper shoes for any reason, please send a note or tell your child’s teacher personally.
  • POSITIVELY ENFORCED:  Ballet Class will allow any leotard and tights or leggings. Skirt is optional. Hair must be completely off the face and neck. Example; ponytail or bun. Ballet shoes MUST BE WORN.
  • All ribbons on tap shoes MUST be removed and replaced with sewn elastic.
