Missy Mayes, Owner/Director was born and raised in New Orleans. She began performing and competing at a very young age. She worked and performed as a dancer as much as she could and later went on to pursue her career in Los Angeles. She had received a month long scholarship to study at Tremaine Dance Center in North Hollywood, CA where she then was awarded a year long scholarship. During her nine years in L.A., she consistently worked, performed and took classes from the top dancers/choreographers in the world. Her credits are vast and she has worked with several well known choreographers and dancers such as Joe Tremaine, Doug Caldwell, Mark Meismer, Wade Robson, Brian Freidman, Chris Dupre’, Keri LaGrand, Bradley Rapier, and so many more. While in L.A. she never stopped teaching. Now, as the owner of Fusion, she is driven to teach her students all that she has learned through her journey and she strives to make her love of dance evident to all.
Kati Lanner, Instructor has been involved in dance for the last 23 years. She has studied classical ballet, pointe, jazz, tap, modern, lyrical, and hip hop, as well as many dance/drill team styles, such as pom pon and character. She received her teaching certificate in May 2004 from Fusion Performing Arts Center. She was an assistant teacher at Fusion for several years until she relocated for college to Baton Rouge, LA. While at LSU, she was a member of the LSU Golden Girls dance team and studied Classical Ballet in the LSU Ballet program. She continued to study all styles of dance at A Chorus Line dance academy, where she acted as an assistant teacher for owner and choreographer, Gigi Hidad. Her most active work within the past 6 years has been with American All Star, where she was employed as a summer dance camp instructor and choreographer. She worked with both junior high and high school dance teams around the U.S., while directing and performing in places such as Paris, France, Honolulu, HI, Orlando, FL, and several colleges across the nation. Since this partnership, she has been the primary choreographer for a number of dance teams in Louisiana and has judged several dance competitions and tryouts in the Southeast region of the United States. She is very happy to return to her Fusion family!
Janette Goertz, Instructor dance career began at Hopkins School of Dance in Kenner, LA with training in tap, jazz, ballet, pointe, lyrical and modern dance. As a former Senior Lieutenant for the Dominican High School Debs Dance Team and a member of the UNO Starlettes Dance Team, she has performed in Disney World, at halftime shows for the New Orleans Saints and at various events around the city. She has also choreographed and judged many auditions for local dance teams and marching groups. After 23 years of dance at her childhood studio, Janette and her sisters became the owners of Hopkins School of Dance. For 6 years she supervised her teachers, choreographed countless dance routines, and produced annual dance recitals. Janette is the proud mother of 3 beautiful daughters who all currently attend Fusion. Now, going into her fourth year of teaching at Fusion Performing Arts Center, Janette is proud to be able to call Fusion her dance home. With over 25 years of dance training and 15 years of teaching experience, Janette continues to have a deep love for dance and strives to instill that same passion in all of her students.
Mary Dee Brinkman, Ballet Instructor had a successful studio in Covington for 38 years. As a Dance Master, her students have won Miss Petite, Miss Junior, Miss Teen, Mr. Teen, Miss Dance and Mr. Dance of Louisiana. She is Dance Master certified by written and performance tests in Ballet, Tap, Jazz and Tumbling and has studied at summer ballet intensives under the tutelage of former ABT and NYCB ballerinas such as Suki Schorr, Roni Mahler and Cynthia Gregory to name a few.
Mary Dee has been awarded The Inspirational Teacher of the Year Award, The Award of Excellence and several choreography awards and was a former Saints Dancer and Board Member of The Louisiana State Arts Council and The New Orleans Ballet. She has a degree in Education and has also attended Teacher Training Programs held by Dance Educators of America and the Southern Association of Dance Masters.
Abby Morris, Instructor has been involved in dancing for 25 years. She has studied ballet, tap, jazz, lyrical, pointe, and hip hop, as well as dance team styles such as pom, kick, and novelty/character. Abby received her teaching certificate in 2002. She was an assistant instructor for several years before becoming a dance instructor for 12 years. Abby was on her dance school’s competition team for 14 years. She graduated from Archbishop Chapelle High School, where she was on the Hi-Stepper dance team from 2001 to 2004. Abby is the proud mother of her daughter, Ella, who has been dancing at Fusion for 6 years. After taking a two-year hiatus, she is excited about returning to Fusion Performing Arts Center as a dance instructor again.
Melissa Ordoyne, Instructor started dancing at 3 years old at The Dance School. She left the dance world to pursue her career in Business Management and currently is the Procurement Manager for Veolia Water. As a mother of two daughters, she returned to the dance life fifteen years ago, as a dance mom and student herself. She received her teaching certification in 2010 and has been an asset to Fusion’s beginning dance program ever since. Melissa serves as Fusion’s Toddler Tap and Ballet Instructor. Her greatest joy as teacher is seeing the little ones progress as they begin to grasp the foundations of dance while having fun.
Caroline Sanders, Instructor, has been dancing at Fusion Performing Arts Center since she was seven. Caroline also attended NOCCA her freshman year of high school, specializing in dance. She has studied ballet, pointe, jazz, tap, lyrical, hip hop, contemporary and gymnastics. She received her teaching certificate in May 2017 from Fusion Performing Arts Center. Caroline also danced two parts in the Delta Festival Ballet’s production of the Nutcracker. She has received numerous awards as a competitive dancer on Fusion’s Affinity Competition Team. She was selected as a Dupree All-Star for two consecutive years giving her the opportunity to perform the opening number of Nationals in Chicago, IL. Traveling all over the southeast with the competition team, Caroline has worked with several choreographers – her favorite being Ellenore Scott. Dancing for Caroline is as important as breathing. She’s excited to be part of Fusion’s faculty this year to share her strong passion of dance and hard work with her students.
Kortney Miller, Tumbling Instructor is 23 years old and is currently studying Nursing at the University of Holy Cross. She has danced for 7 years and practiced competitive gymnastics for 10 years. She was a Louisiana All Around State Champion at the age of 10. She has taught gymnastics for four years at All Star Gymnastics and has experience teaching ages 2 and over.
